Somewhere, sipping an almond milk cappuccino, having an idea and going for it. I’ve helped scrappy startups and billion-dollar businesses connect with customers around the world through content strategy and writing. The creative itch is always present in other ways: music, comedy, travel photography, and personal writing. Meeting and collaborating with others is the beating heart of it — I’ve been absurdly blessed with fascinating, compassionate collaborators over my life, both in personal community and professional opportunity. Always ready for the next tiny twinkle, and shameless instigator of doing the thing and making the stuff.

Words

I’ve been putting thoughts into words since before robots made it cool. Starting with the gold stars I received for writing essays in elementary school, I’ve considered myself a writer. I then pursued an education in journalism, and have since had the great fortune of partnering with world-class organizations to conceptualize and write all kinds of digital marketing content with a journalistic eye. Blog articles, ebooks, research reports, landing pages, brand social posts, customer stories, executive thought leadership, press releases, and more. Enhancing my craft with help from innovations in AI and excited to continue evolving as tools and philosophies do, while keeping human problem-solving and creativity as the conductor.

Creative strategy

Sometimes I don’t just write words, but think of other ideas that my colleagues can put into words (or slogans, or visuals, or downloadable guides, or LinkedIn series — maybe all at once for a unified purpose). One of my favorite things in the world is cracking the narrative that a business, person, or creative project is meant to broadcast, and planning out just how to say it, and when, and where. It’s great fun finding the many tendrils an idea can have and mapping them out as a feast with each complementing the other. I also love managing these projects, because hey somebody has to. (And I kinda love that part.)

Photos, music, and more

I have trouble sitting still. I’ve been a musician nearly as long as I’ve been a writer, and the two often meet — I’ve been the songwriter for multiple bands and solo projects over the course of my life, and have loved performing live ever since someone handed me a drumstick and said “do something with this, will you?” Comedy has been a constant, from writing and performing in a sketch group in college to popping into standup open mics around the country. I’ve also fallen in love with photography especially during my years of solo travel, and have dipped my toes into video editing and directing. I even do stick figures, and I scramble a good egg.

Creative partnerships are cool as heck. I greatly enjoy realizing visions with others — no matter how small and silly or big and serious — and feeling a shared sense of pride over the journey and its outcomes.
